Music Video Editing

Firstly, I created several bins and named them guitar, master shot, keys, drums and track then dragged the relevant footage into the bins. I then placed the master shot onto the timeline. I muted the master shot and put the track underneath the master shot on the timeline. This is because I only needed audio from the music track. I had to then make sure the master shot was in sync with the audio track as it would look wrong and unprofessional if it wasn’t.
The master shot was a close up of the main singer. This is what’s known as star iconography as it focuses on the lead artist and makes the audience aware of them and then promotes the artist.
After I had done all this I added cutaways such as the keys, drums etc. I cut them to the beat so that when the cutaway started it fell on the beat. This gives the video a sense of rhythm. Each shot lasts approximately 2-3 seconds before the next shot appears. This is because it keeps the video from becoming boring and makes it more interesting. I used transitions on each cutaway.
